License Plate Recognition System: 99% Outdoor, 99.9% Parking-Lot Accuracy, Reliable in All Weather Conditions

HITech continues to strengthen its AI License Plate Recognition system (ALPR), built for parking lots, roadside parking payment posts, community driveways, and other sites that must operate year-round despite constantly changing light, weather, and vehicle angles.

Built on AI deep learning, the system reaches 99% accuracy outdoors and 99.9% in parking lots, and supports wide-angle plate recognition and real-time multi-feed processing, with a CPU, GPU or NPU computing architecture chosen to fit each site, allowing flexible deployment across different hardware and environments.

Built for the Complexity of Real-World Sites, Not Just Accuracy

Deploying plate recognition in the field means dealing with day and night lighting, glare, shadows, vehicle angles, and camera placement constraints — not just raw accuracy. HITech has optimized the system for these real-world conditions to improve deployment flexibility.

(1) Recognition at Extreme Angles

Purpose-built for constrained installations such as roadside parking payment posts, the system keeps recognizing plates even at angles beyond 60 degrees, reducing constraints on camera placement and shooting angle.

(2) Real-Time Recognition Across Multiple Feeds

The system can recognize multiple video feeds simultaneously in real time, suited to sites with several entrances, multiple lanes, or that need multi-camera coverage.

(3) AI Auto-Adjustment for Any Environment

Using AI deep learning, the system automatically adapts to the lighting and conditions of each site, deploying without manual parameter tuning and reducing on-site setup and calibration work.

(4) Flexible Computing: CPU, GPU and NPU

For parking lots and community access control, the recognition engine runs directly on the CPU with no dedicated GPU required, and can be deployed on existing industrial PCs or on-site equipment, lowering hardware requirements and deployment cost. Sites with heavier computing needs, such as real-time 4K recognition and multiple video streams, can use GPU acceleration. The system also supports NPU hardware acceleration platforms, with model deployment and optimization for each chip architecture; under specific hardware configurations and test conditions, NPU solutions can deliver recognition performance on par with, or better than, some Jetson GPU embedded solutions, and real-time 4K recognition is also possible on NPU platforms that meet the performance requirements.

From Recognition to Automatic Gate Release: Integrating with Smart Parking Management

Beyond working as a standalone recognition engine, HITech's AI License Plate Recognition system can also integrate directly with HITech's smart parking management system, connecting vehicle entry/exit, parking fees, and barrier gate control.

Vehicles do not need to come to a complete stop for recognition to complete; once a vehicle is confirmed eligible for entry, the system can trigger the barrier gate to open automatically, reducing wait times.

If a plate cannot be recognized, the site can be configured to let the vehicle through anyway while automatically logging an exception with the relevant vehicle and image data for staff to review and handle afterward.

With this approach, staff don't need to step in for every recognition exception on the spot — keeping traffic flowing smoothly while reducing the day-to-day management workload at the site.

Cross-Platform Deployment, Flexible Integration with Existing Parking Equipment

HITech's License Plate Recognition system supports Windows, Linux, and embedded systems, allowing flexible deployment based on a site's existing hardware and system architecture, and can integrate with barrier gates, payment machines, cameras, and other parking equipment.

For existing parking lots, there's no need to replace equipment wholesale to adopt AI license plate recognition — sites can upgrade incrementally as needed. New sites can integrate directly with parking fee collection, mobile payment, discount management, and no-barrier parking management to build a complete automated workflow.

More Than 4,000 Systems Deployed Nationwide

As of 2026, more than 4,000 HITech License Plate Recognition systems have been deployed nationwide. By site, the system is in use at over 150 parking lots and 60 community sites.

From parking lots and community driveways to outdoor roadside parking, HITech continues to build real-world deployment experience across different lighting, angles, and site conditions, and to integrate license plate recognition further into smart parking and vehicle management systems.

License plate recognition is more than reading a plate number — it's the foundation for vehicle entry/exit management, automated billing, and smart parking workflows. By integrating AI License Plate Recognition with its parking management system, HITech builds a complete automated parking workflow from vehicle recognition and entry through billing, payment, and exit.
